James Kerlin

"Jack of all trades, master of none" …..is a befitting adage since adventure racing is an amalgamation of several sports in which Jim is ordinarily proficient, but excels at none. Jim first noticed he had the knack for adventure racing while on a day hike in Maine with his then fiancée (now his wife Jackie)…. "If we are crawling on all fours, ducking under bushes and branches, then most likely we have lost the trail" … those were the words uttered by Jackie who was not at all thrilled with the situation. It is funny how Jim actually found that to be enjoyable and exhilarating. He credits that moment as the seed that later blossomed into his adventure racing endeavors. Going strong since 2003 with a medley of sprints, 12 and 24 hour races under his hip belt, Jim has compiled a list of many podium finishes. Today, Jim continues to love getting lost in the woods and wilds, alone, or with like-minded individuals.

Jim is currently preparing for his first 3-day race and never leaves home without his map and compass.
