Larry Settembrini

Larry Settembrini born April 12, 1977 came out of the womb pedaling. It was 2 years before he would get on a bike, however at that point, cycling became part of his life for good.

Larry was first exposed to the sport of Adventure Racing by his wife Erica who competed for a period of time with an AR stud by the name of Jon Fontane. With a passion for the outdoors, a love of cycling and some experience with a compass, it was a natural step to explore the sport. Competing in his first race with Genesis Adventures back in 2001 Larry was hooked. After getting serious about the sport and meeting Hakka Loogie (later known as Jim Kerlin) in an online chat room for quilting enthusiasts, they teamed up to compete in the 2- person male series for a couple of seasons. After working out some kinks, they went on to be a team with a consistent record finishing in the top 5 of most events and scoring a Male Series Championship in 2004 and first place finish in the NYARA 24hr Shag race in 2006.

With the birth of his first child in the spring of 2007, Larry – or L-Bomb as he was known in the AR community, decided to retire from competitive racing and focus on family and long technical rides. However that didn’t last long. After over a year of rest, L-Bomb was talked out of retirement by his teammate Jim and close friends Rich Reid and Ed Harrington to compete in the 60 hour untamed NE race taking place in June of 2008 as part of the 4-person team NYARA Male.
