If your race is going to have long canoe legs, do yourself a favor and consider rigging makeshift foot braces like you have in a kayak. Footbraces give you more power/leverage for your paddling effort.

Congratulations to TEAM NYARA who posted some STELLAR results at the Genesis Sprint in Ringwood on April 12th. First Place Male went to our guys Rich Reid and Ed Harrington, Second Place Co-ed went to Jim Kerlin and Sara Percy and Fourth Place Co-ed went to Chris O'Bara and Tracey Robertson. What a GREAT way to start the season - Congratulations to all!

Hmmmm...a GREAT question came in to us here at NYARA - Should you plot all your points at once, or plot on the fly? Well, we turned it over to our own Dr. Evil (who will be changing his name to "Princess of Norway" soon - we don't get it either) who wrote such a SPECTACULAR reply, complete with examples, that we had to share it with you. 	Come suffer with your favorite NYARA members in the longest day of your life on May 17th, 2008. Okay, it's actually a few weeks before the longest day of the year, but it sure will feel like it for teams of 2 or 3 that paddle, bike and navigate their way through the Southern Catskills. This years Longest Day race is a USARA National Qualifier.The top 3 co-ed teams will be eligible to compete in the USARA National Race in November. Racers will be treated to the gorgeous views and challenging terrain while working their way to the finish line. Full Details
