Dirt, Rocks and the Occasional Leech
New York, NY - A recent New York Adventure Racing Association Board meeting yielded the following question: What should we give our loyal members for their participation in NYARA? The Board quickly decided that preferred early registration to participate in four solid days of grime and pain and pushing the limits might be well worth a paltry annual due. So it was decided that, until January 01, 2002, NYARA members only would be allowed to register for the grueling 2002 NYARA Races. Go to www.nyara.org to find out more about the Saddle & Paddle, in which racers will hop rocks and tree roots on two-wheeled contraptions and force ungainly canoes through a confusing and strategic orienteering leg; and the Longest Day Adventure Race, which will-well, you get the idea. General registration opens to the public January 02, 2002, so don't miss out on your chance to take full advantage of being a full-fledged NYARA member. Be the first on your block to subject yourself to unsavory punishment of the outdoors sort. (If you're not one of this elite group, we suggest that you sign up to be a NYARA member immediately, before all the race slots are gone and you're left with nothing fun to do on your weekends.) NYARA is a not-for-profit 501(c)3 organization dedicated to spreading news about adventure racing and maintaining a network among Northeasterners with a nasty jones for the outdoors. NYARA members have access to training clinics and association-sponsored races that teach skills necessary in adventure racing. Keep your eyes open for more news about adventure racing in the world's greatest city, from the only organization with the resources and know-how to bring it on. # # # |
