New York, NY -

Ah, Ohio. Big, friendly land of spectator sports. Land where people watch pro football, baseball, and basketball to the point of distraction. A state so taken with pro sports that it's home to the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

What does this have to do with any of you? The good people of the NYARA Board have put their heads together with Health and Fitness Promotions so that one lucky NYARA team will go to Ohio to race in the first-ever Expedition Ohio Adventure Race. Yep, in 2002, one four-person NYARA team will participate free of charge in a four-day staged race involving all sorts of good stuff. You know, the usual good stuff. Kayaking. Swimming. Ascending. Rappelling. Trekking. Mountain biking. Horseback riding.

What's the hitch? To qualify, teams must race in both NYARA races (the Saddle and Paddle and the Longest Day). The team with the fastest combined time for both races wins the $2500 race slot as well as hotel accommodations for the start and finish of the race. (Didn't we say we'd take care of you?)

For more information about the race, go to www.expeditionohio.com or www.hfpracing.com, or write to media@nyara.org. For more information on the Saddle and Paddle or the Longest Day, point your browser to www.nyara.org.

NYARA is a not-for-profit 501(c)3 organization dedicated to spreading news about adventure racing and maintaining a network among Northeasterners with a nasty jones for the outdoors. NYARA members have access to training clinics and association-sponsored races that teach skills necessary in adventure racing.

Keep your eyes open for more news about adventure racing in the world's greatest city, from the only organization with the resources and know-how to bring it on.
