NYARA Announces 2003 Race and Clinic Calendar
New York, NY - New York Adventure Racing Association Announces 2003 Schedule - Registration Opens January 1, 2003! The New York Adventure Racing Association (NYARA), one of the fastest growing AR clubs in the US, is excited to announce a packed schedule for the 2003 season. The eagerly awaited race and clinic schedule is now posted on our web site at www.nyara.org (click on NYARA Races & Clinics). Remember that NYARA members pay reduced fees for races so join up now. For 2003 NYARA has raised the bar again by adding their first 24-hour event - "The Gap" - to a successful schedule that includes the return of their most popular events - April's 14-hour "Saddle and Paddle" and June's 14-hour "The Longest Day". Registration opens January 1, 2003 for the races and they are expected to fill up quickly. The Gap is a new race added to the calendar this year and will be held in the NJ/PA area. Race Director, Rich Raschdorf, says, "A 24 hour race seemed the natural progression for NYARA, with the Saddle & Paddle and the Longest Day being so popular we wanted to give racers the ability to transition into a longer race. We have been scouting the Gap area and have come up with some great course ideas and some concepts racers may not have seen in other races." NYARA has built a reputation of offering professionally organized, challenging events with navigation being a specialty. April's Saddle & Paddle uses Blue Marsh, PA as a back-drop, while The Longest Day in June covers terrain in Harriman State Park, NY. Something for Everyone - Novice and Expert Alike Catering to adventurous types not quite ready to step up to longer races or to those looking for something within the five boroughs, NYARA once again hosts the High Rock Challenge and the Ladder 5 Cross Country Challenge. As well as providing adventures in the Staten Island Greenbelt, both of these events raise money for two charities that support fallen New York emergency personnel. The clinic schedule can also be found under NYARA Races & Clinics. Don't have the skills - Learn from the Pros! For those still not ready to make the jump to racing then NYARA also organizes a year-long schedule of over 20 training clinics where folks can gain skills, build confidence and learn from some very experienced racers. Clinics will cover fixed ropes, maps and navigation, running, paddling, biking and maintenance, CPR and wilderness medicine. Clinic registration fees are very affordable and, as always, NYARA members enjoy reduced fees. About NYARA Founded just three years ago, NYARA has become the leading AR club in and around the tri-state area. If you have any questions regarding upcoming events, please email us at info@nyara.org NYARA will also be represented at IATOS, the International Adventure Travel and Outdoor Sports show, in Chicago February 19-23, 2003. # # # |
