New York, NY -

We're particularly fond of Octagons, especially those dedicated to adventure racing. The New York Adventure Racing Association is pleased to announce that the good people at Octagon, who are responsible for the Hi-Tec Adventure Race Series and the Balance Bar 24 Hour, have teamed up with NYARA to help offer Northeasterners the finest in adventure racing.

Octagon has asked NYARA to educate the Northeast about adventure racing through such events as the May 18 Hi-Tec navigation clinic, to be held in preparation for the New York Hi-Tec AR. The clinic will be taught by the navigational experts of the NYARA Board of Directors, who have plenty of success teaching newbies how to find their way through the woods. Octagon has also tapped the course directing skills of NYARA President and founder Chris Ballou, who is the assistant course director for the New York Balance Bar 24 Hour, in October.

"This partnership benefits both groups," says Yi Shun Lai, Director of Media Relations for NYARA. "Both Octagon and NYARA are fairly young, and we're excited to see where this goes in the future." This year marks the first that Octagon has partnered with a not-for-profit adventure racing association.

Octagon has also given NYARA two race slots, one of which will be the second-place prize for NYARA's New York Adventure Race Series. The series consists of two races, and one team must participate in both races in order to be eligible to win the race slot.

Octagon's great races will now be exposed to the most desirable demographic for this sort of competition-the elusive urban adventure racer. NYARA's extensive membership base is the largest in the nation in paid membership clubs.

NYARA is the only not-for-profit 501(c)3 organization dedicated to spreading news about adventure racing and maintaining a network among Northeasterners with a nasty jones for the outdoors. NYARA members have access to training clinics and association-sponsored races that teach skills necessary in adventure racing.

Keep your eyes open for more news about adventure racing in the world's greatest city, from the only organization with the resources and know-how to bring it on.
