NYARA Redefines the Summer Solstice

New York, NY -

Dateline: June 22, 2002. The summer solstice is traditionally the day to get out and play as much as you can. Or, if you'd prefer, the day to suffer as much as you can.

Teams of 3 will pick their way among the rocky terrain and pristine lake waters of Harriman State Park in The Longest Day, the second and last race of NYARA's New York Adventure Race Series. Competition will be fierce as athletes vie for the Grand Prize of the Series, a slot in the Expedition Ohio race this fall, valued at $2500. Second place is no mean feat either-the prize for that is a much-coveted slot in the first-ever New York Balance Bar 24 Hour Adventure.

The athletes will canoe, trek, and bike through some of the most undervalued adventure terrain in New York State. Over 12 hours they'll work together as teams to collect orienteering points and prizes. If all of this sounds foreign to you, you might consider that it's the best kind of adventure--in your own backyard: Harriman State Park is a mere hour and a half from New York City.
