A Authorized Equipment |
- Boats for water venues are Old Towns Canoes. Racers may bring their own portable seat (recommended), and kayak (recommended)/canoe paddle.
- Any equipment modifications or changes will be provided as soon as practicable or at the event to ensure that all teams are prepared on race day.
- All competitors will supply their own food and drink for the entire racing event.
- The equipment provided by the race organization:
- Water craft and paddles will be made available to competitors at the appropriate sections of the race.

B Mandatory Equipment |
- Teams and racers shall supply all equipment necessary to cover the racecourse for varying types of terrain, weather and water conditions.
- Personal paddles are allowed for the water venue; race management will also provide paddles.
- There may be spot checks for mandatory equipment along the course.

C Personal Mandatory Equipment |
Each team member must supply the following and must carry these items at all times during competition
- 1 Whistle attached to equipment accessible while wearing a PFD
- 1 Fixed or folding knife with 1 1/2" blade minimum
- Water bottles or water bladder capacity (minimum) 60 oz. or greater
- 1 NYARA provided racing bib or jersey to be worn and visible over other clothing without exception, at all times on the race course
- 1 Compass
- 1 Survival mirror, at least 2" X 3"
- 1 Life jacket (that does not require inflation) suitable for canoeing / kayaking which allows uninhibited movement and with the minimal flotation requirement by the U.S. Coast Guard for Type III P.F.D's
- 1 Personal first aid kit (See Individual First Aid Kit below for detailed list of mandatory supplies)
- 1 Lighter or waterproof matches
- Means of replacing electrolytes (pills or powder)
- Working headlamp with batteries
- Extra set of batteries for headlamp
- 2 light sticks
- 1 Commercial sit harness
- 2 locking carabineers
- 1 ATC rappel device
- 1 Climbing helmet (to an approved national or international standard - UIAA.) Must have light attached if after dusk or before dawn. No other helmets are allowed.
- 1 Pair of rappelling gloves (short or full fingered) or biking gloves (full fingered only)
- 1 runner/daisy chain and nonlocking carabineer for hanging pack (optional)
- 1 prussic (minimum 6 mm in diameter, loop should stretch from belay loop to reach your elbow - or a 2 1/2 foot loop length)

D Mandatory Team Equipment |
Each team must possess and carry permanently throughout the competition the following.
- 1 Team first aid kit (See First Aid Kit below for detailed list of mandatory supplies)
- 6 Feet of usable standard duct tape
- 1 Dry bag, waterproof and suitable to keep clothing and mandatory equipment dry during the entire race*
- 1 Sponge per team (for self bailing)
- Minimum of 50-water purification tablets or means to filter water
*(Teams must be prepared for conditions of water crossing both in and out of water craft) |
E Minimum Mandatory Individual Mountain Biking Equipment: Addition to full-time equipment |
- A mountain bike
- An approved mountain biking helmet with chin strap
- A fixed white light for the front of the bike and a red blinking light for the rear
- 1 Bike pump or inflation kits, kit (can be split and carried by separate individuals)
- 1 Mini repair/wrench kits, suitable to tighten all major bike components (ex. Topeak Alien)
- Complete tire repair kit (including spare tubes)

F Mandatory Individual First Aid Kit (carried at all times) |
- 1 Needle/safety pin minimum 1"
- 1 Space blanket
- 6 tablets of anti inflammatory pills

G Mandatory Team First Aid Kit (carried at all times) |
- 6 Band-Aids
- 3 Rolls of Gauze
- 20 Feet of a first aid tape
- 2 3"x3" moleskin pads
- 1 First aid tweezers
- 1 Tube antibiotic ointment
- 1 Ace bandage

H Forbidden Equipment |
- Weapons
- G.P.S. (Global Positioning Systems)
- Night vision goggles or apparatus
- Cellular phones, pagers, or other unauthorized communications devices
- Any mode of transportation other than those authorized by the event organizers and the specific approved venues

I Repair |
During the competition, competitors are generally responsible for protecting and repairing any equipment as provided by the race organization. |
