FROM THE PALISADES PARKWAY (NORTH OR SOUTH Exit 17 about 40 miles north of New York City).
FROM THE NORTH VIA I-87 (NEW YORK STATE THRUWAY) Take I-87 south to exit 16 (Harriman). At the traffic light, turn left onto Route 32. At third light, turn left onto Route 6 East. Take Route 6 East to the Queensboro Traffic Circle. At circle, make the third right onto Palisades Interstate Parkway North. Take Exit 17 - Follow above.
FROM THE EAST/SOUTH VIA I-87/287 (NEW YORK STATE THRUWAY) Cross Tappan Zee Bridge. Go North/West to Exit 13N (Palisades Interstate Parkway North). Go 19 miles to Exit 17 – Follow above.
FROM NEW YORK CITY VIA PALISADES INTERSTATE PARKWAY Take the upper level of the George Washington Bridge. Take the very first right onto the Palisades Interstate Parkway North. Go about 40 miles to Exit 17 – Follow above.
FROM THE SOUTH VIA GARDEN STATE PARKWAY Take the Garden State Parkway North to the last exit (I-87/287, New York State Thruway). Go East/South on I-87 to Exit 13N (Palisades Interstate Parkway North). Go about 15 miles to Exit 17 – Follow above.
FROM THE WEST VIA ROUTE 17 OR I-84 Take Route 17 East to Exit 130A (Bear Mountain) to Route 6/Long Mountain Parkway. Take Route 6 East to Queensboro Traffic Circle. At the circle, make third right onto the Palisades Interstate Parkway North. Take Exit 17 – Follow above. |

- Whistle (around neck)
- Small first aid kit (including blister kit, aspirin, neosporin)
- Food for approximately 8 hours of activity
- Water (minimum 100 oz or container and purification system (pills, filter, etc))
- Headlamp or flashlight

Each individual must carry 10% of his or her body weight -This DOES NOT include food or water (your pack must be 10% and then you add the chosen amount of food and water) . You can use a bag of cat litter or dog food to get the exact weight You can use trekking poles and towing systems. Once your team passes through the weigh station you can redistribute the weight among the team as you see fit.
Your pack will be weighed at the start and finish.
NYARA thongs will be distributed on the day of the event and must be visible throughout the race.
You must carry 100 Fl oz of water or have a container and means of purification (ex. pills or filters, this will also be checked).
You must also carry the mandatory gear (this is part of the 10%).
Teams will be allowed to change distances during the competition as long as it is at a safety check station.
