The High Rock Challenge

Staten Island, NY

In memory of Police Officer John Kelly, the High Rock Challenge is an adventure run in the Greenbelt Trail System of Staten Island that is roughly ten kilometers in length. Teams consisting of two members must run together at all times and compete in five mystery events which are located throughout the course. Mystery events are designed to challenge and encourage teamwork as well as mental and physical strength. There will be food, beverages and entertainment at the finish. Previous year’s challenges brought competitors face to face with a 50 pound sandbag, an 8 foot wall, a word scramble test, a low crawl net and a suspended wire bridge over a murky pond.

Racer Bag Pickup
Wednesday, April 23 - Pick up your race numbers, shirts and bag in Manhattan on April 23 at Mr. Dennehy's, 63 Carmine Street, New York, NY (www.mrdennehys.com) from 6-8 pm. Stick around for a beer or grab a bite to eat - they have terrific food! Thursday, April 24 - The High Rock Challenge pre-race party and race bag pick-up for Staten Islanders will be on Thursday, April 24 from 6 - 9 at Scott's Armory Inn - www.armoryinn.com -on Manor Road across from the "Armory!" The new wicking material shirt that HRC runners have gotten accustomed to will be available along with race numbers. Appetizers, drink specials and music is on the menu so save the date. The Armory Inn is a generous sponsor of the 2008 High Rock Challenge; stop by this neighborhood spot whenever you're thirsty! THERE WILL BE NO RACE DAY REGISTRATION!
