A Authorized Equipment


    Any equipment modifications or changes will be provided as soon as practicable or at the event to ensure that all teams are prepared on race day.

  • All competitors will supply their own food and drink for the entire racing event.
  • The equipment provided by the race organization:
    • Water craft and paddles will be made available to competitors at the appropriate sections of the race.

B Mandatory Equipment

  • Teams and racers shall supply all equipment necessary to cover the race course for varying types of terrain, weather and water conditions.
  • There will be spot checks for mandatory equipment along the course.

C Personal Mandatory Equipment

Each team member must supply the following and must carry these items at all times during competition

  • 1- Whistle attached to equipment accessible while wearing a PFD
  • 1- Compass
  • 1- Knife
  • Working headlamp with batteries
  • Waterproof rain jacket (Sealed or Taped Seams)
  • 1- Synthetic Hat
  • 1- Space Blanket
  • Food & Water (AR is 100% self-sufficient)

D Mandatory Team Equipment

Each team must possess and carry permanently throughout the competition the following.

  • 1- Team First Aid Kit (See First Aid Kit below for detailed list of mandatory supplies)
  • Cell Phone (Must be waterproofed in Zip lock bags or dry bag)
  • 1- Waterproof Map case
  • 1- pen
  • 1- Team gear bag (Teams will need to carry this bag during portions of the race. Suggestion: Large mesh bag)

E Mandatory Team First Aid Kit (carried at all times)

  • 6- Band-Aids
  • 1- Tube Antibiotic Ointment
  • 1- Ace Bandage
  • 3 doses Anti-Inflammatory (Ibuprofen, etc)
  • Tweezers
  • Sunscreen
  • 1- 6 Feet of Duct Tape
  • Water purification tablets or means to filter water

F Minimum Mandatory Individual Mountain Biking Equipment: Addition to full-time equipment

  • A mountain bike (No cycle cross bikes)
  • An approved mountain biking helmet with chin strap
  • Red tail light mounted on the bike with appropriate batteries
  • Bike tube

G Minimum Mandatory Team Mountain Biking Equipment: Addition to full-time equipment

  • Tire patch kit & Bike Pump/CO2 cartridges (1 per team)
  • Mini repair tool (1 per team)

H Mandatory Individual Paddling Gear

  • Type III Life Jacket (Non-Inflatable)
  • Paddle (Recommended to bring your own kayak paddle
  • 3rd Canoe Seat for 3-person teams only (recommended)

I Mandatory Team Paddling Gear

  • Bailer (Suggestion: Cut the bottom off a one gallon jug)
  • Commercial Throw Bag

J Suggested Gear (Not Mandatory)

  • Wag Bag (Available at Campmor)
  • Clothing made of Moisture Wicking Fabrics
  • Survival mirror
  • Lighter or waterproof matches
  • Means of replacing electrolytes (pills or powder)
  • Complete tire repair kit
  • 1- Bike Odometer/Speedometer (minimum one per team)
  • 1- Dry bag, waterproof and suitable to keep clothing and madatory equipment dry during the entire race*
  • 1- Sponge per team (for self bailing)

*(Teams must be prepared for conditions of water crossing both in and out of water craft)

K Forbidden Equipment

  • Weapons
  • G.P.S. (Global Positioning Systems)
  • Night vision goggles or apparatus
  • Pagers, or other unauthorized communications devices
  • Any mode of transportation other than those authorized by the event organizers and the specific approved venues
