NYARA Races and Clinics

The Longest Day & Night

New York Adventure Race
Southern Catskills
June 6th & 7th, 2009

Updated 06/07/09

The Longest Day and Night

Come suffer with your favorite NYARA members in
The Longest Day & Night of your life!

NYARA is mixing things up for 2009. The Longest Day will now add a night portion to make it a 27-hour event.

For the Longest Day & Night, teams will once again paddle, bike and navigate their way through the Catskills in New York State.

As is becoming tradition for NYARA, the exact venue and locations will be kept secret until just prior to the race. Once again, you will be treated to some new terrain at this year’s Longest Day & Night. The course will reward and delight racers of all ability levels from novice to experienced teams with fantastic terrain and spectacular views. Course design will feature a modified rogaine format which will allow teams to collect optional CPs at their discretion. The team with the most points at the end of the 27-hour race will be crowned TLD&N champions.

2009's Longest Day & night race is a USARA National Qualifier. The top 3 co-ed teams will be eligible to compete in the USARA National Championship Race.

Race Course Highlights:

  • No Friday evening check-in
  • Rogaine/score-O style course (equally challenging to novice and top navigators)
  • Pre-plotted maps
  • Great single-track mountain biking
  • Fun river paddle
  • Scenic and challenging hiking terrain
  • Potential climbing/ropes section (this section will not require any special skills or certification)

USARA Qualifying Spots & Points Racers, We have gotten a few questions concerning the USARA qualifying spots and points. I wanted to clarify how we are grouping teams. For TLD&N this year, we are combining the co-ed 3 person and co-ed 4 person teams into the "premier" category. This "premier" category will be racing for BOTH the USARA qualifying spots and USARA points.
