I was passing out fliers for the Gold Rush Mother Lode at the pre-race meeting for Primal Quest and one team asked me, "Why should we do your race?" That got me thinking...I should sent out an e-mail telling people why they should come out and race at the Gold Rush Mother Lode on November 4-8, 2009 near Groveland, California. Here are my top 10 reason that you should travel to Groveland to do our four day expedition race, the Mother Lode: 1. Once in a lifetime opportunity. We only plan to do this once. It's gonna rock and everyone will be talking about it. You'll be kicking yourself if you miss it. 2. Gold Rush Adventure Races is a grass roots promoter. We don't do this for a living. We create great courses for you because we are passionate about adventure racing and we get our satisfaction from people telling us how much they enjoyed our event. If we were in this for money, then we'd have quit long ago. 3. Each team can expect a sweet swag bag with products from our sponsors including but not limited to: DryMax Socks, SportsMulti, Feed the Machine, nuun, Kaia Foods. We'll also have a prize raffle after the race to give away more merchandise from our sponsors. 4. Our race is a good bargain at a time when the racing calendar is traditionally pretty open. We are in the tourist industry "off season" so travel and lodging are cheap. 5. We use Spot Satellite messengers so friends and family at home can follow along. 6. We host a good meal the night before the race, offer hot food at the finish, and host an awards banquet to recognize your accomplishment. This makes it easy to hang out with other teams and swap stories. That's my favorite part of any race, except maybe the ropes course. 7. We will have a ropes course and it will be memorable. 8. We traditionally offer one of the toughest one day races around. Our four day race will challenge the fastest, most experienced teams, yet teams on their first expedition race will be able to finish the race as well. 9. The scenery on our course is spectacular. You'll travel deep canyons, high ridges, large lakes, and rolling hills. Fall color is often showing on the trees the week of our event. 10. The course is designed by me and Adrian Crane. Adrian Crane is one of the original adventure racers. He's one of only a handful of people to have competed in all of the Eco-Challenges. The deadline to register for the Gold Rush Mother Lode 4-Day Expedition Race in Northern California and avoid late fees is October first. We have several racers looking for teams on our website at http://goldrushar.com/TeamConnection.htm. If you want to register a partial team while you look for teammates to complete your roster then shoot an e-mail to info@goldrushar.com. We'll do anything we can to help you get to the starting line. We are also looking for volunteers. We need people to crew for teams, staff checkpoints, staff transition areas, assist at the ropes course, move gear, coordinate logistics, help the caterer, and assist at registration and skills checks.
